VIGI Config Tool
TP-Link VIGI Config Tool is a PC program used when installing VIGI cameras and NVRs. It cuts down the longest part of the job — finding the devices and setting them up for the first time.
The tool scans the local network and lists every VIGI device connected to it. Each device IP address and other network settings can be changed right here, cameras and recorders can be initialised, and the main settings can be applied to several devices at once, in a batch.
The program also shows live video, upgrades device firmware and adds devices to VIGI VMS. On a site with ten or more cameras this is far quicker than configuring each one through its own web interface.

TP-Link VIGI Config Tool belongs to the TP-Link VIGI line: a surveillance camera for shops, warehouses, offices and production sites. Unlike home cameras it is built around an NVR recorder, power over a single cable via PoE, and continuous long-term recording.
Who it suits: sites with four cameras or more, shop chains that need several locations on one NVR, warehouses and offices recording around the clock. Together with a PoE switch you no longer need a separate power supply at every camera.

Not strictly — the camera can record to a memory card. But from four cameras up, an NVR keeps the archive in one place, makes searching through recordings far easier, and preserves the footage even if a camera is damaged. On a larger site the NVR and the PoE switch are planned together.
PoE carries both data and power over one network cable. That means no separate socket next to the camera, so the installation is cheaper and tidier. The important part is choosing a PoE switch with enough power budget (W) for the number of cameras.
