About Cameras.

TP-Link cameras cover both ends of the market: Tapo for homes and small shops, and VIGI for professional installations.

Tapo models are quick to set up over Wi-Fi, send a phone alert when they see a person, support two-way audio, night vision and recording to a microSD card or a local NAS — no mandatory subscription. VIGI cameras are built for longer runs: PoE power, weatherproof housings, higher resolution, AI detection of people and vehicles, and recording to an NVR with a searchable archive.

Indoor, outdoor, fixed, pan-tilt and solar-powered options are all available. Tell us the site — a flat, a shop floor, a warehouse yard — and how many points you need to cover, and we will put the system together. We are the official TP-Link partner in Azerbaijan: original products, official warranty, installation advice.

How to choose a home camera — a guide to Tapo models

Four questions decide the model: will the camera sit indoors or outdoors, can you run power to it, where will the footage be stored, and do you need a pan and tilt view. Answer those four and the choice is almost made for you.

1. Indoor, outdoor and battery models

Indoor cameras (Tapo C100, C110, C120, C200, C210, C212, C225) are for flats, nurseries and offices and run from a socket. Outdoor cameras (Tapo C310, C320WS, C325WB, C500, C510W, C520WS) are rated IP65/IP66 against rain and frost. Battery kits (Tapo C400, C420, C425, C430, C460 KIT, C610/C615/C630 KIT) suit places where no cable can be run — a gate, a shed, a country house.

3. Where recordings are kept

Tapo cameras record to a microSD card (usually up to 256 GB), to the Tapo Care cloud on subscription, or to a NAS/hub on the local network. Most people use microSD: no subscription, and the oldest clips are overwritten when the card fills up. Cloud storage is useful if the camera itself is stolen — the footage survives.

3b. Memory card: which one and how many GB

Tapo cameras use a microSD card, bought separately — it is not in the box. Three things matter:

  • Capacity: depending on the model, up to 256 GB or 512 GB is supported. The exact limit is stated on the product page.
  • Class: Class 10 / U1 at minimum. Slower cards drop frames and break the recording.
  • Type: choose a high endurance card where possible. An ordinary card is designed for a phone recording a couple of hours a day; a camera writes continuously, and a standard card can fail within months.

Once inserted, the card must be formatted in the Tapo app — formatting on a computer is not recommended. When the card fills up the camera overwrites the oldest footage, so there is nothing to clear by hand.

3c. How many days a card holds

Card sizeContinuous recordingMotion only
32 GBabout 2 days1–2 weeks
64 GBabout 4 days2–4 weeks
128 GB7–10 days1–2 months
256 GB14–20 days2–4 months

These are estimates and depend on three things: camera resolution (2K uses roughly twice the space of 1080p), how much movement is in the scene, and the recording mode. In practice 128 GB is the most balanced choice for a home. In battery kits (C460 KIT, C610/C630 KIT) the footage goes to the hub rather than the camera — the card goes into the hub.

3d. Cloud storage — Tapo Care

A memory card has one weak point: if the camera is stolen or destroyed, the footage goes with it. The Tapo Care cloud service exists for exactly that — video is stored on TP-Link servers in parallel and stays available whatever happens to the camera.

What the cloud adds:

  • Footage is safe — the archive is there even if the camera is gone
  • A longer archive — depending on the plan you can review earlier days
  • Smarter alerts — person, pet and vehicle detection, far fewer false notifications
  • No card wear — continuous recording stops grinding down the card

The service is subscription based and works alongside a memory card — the two complement each other rather than replace one another. For plans, terms and activation, get in touch: support section or WhatsApp — we will help you pick the right option and set it up.

4. Setup and the app

Every Tapo camera is set up in the Tapo app: connect it to Wi-Fi, scan a QR code, and it is running in three to five minutes. Motion triggers a phone notification and the live view works from anywhere. For commercial sites the VIGI range and NVR recorders are the better fit.

Frequently asked questions

How many GB should the memory card be?

For a home, 128 GB is the sweet spot: in motion-only mode that is one to two months of footage. For continuous recording or a 2K camera, look at 256 GB. The card should be Class 10 or faster, ideally a high endurance type.

Is cloud storage available?

Yes — with Tapo Care the video is kept on TP-Link servers, so recordings survive even if the camera is stolen. It is a subscription service; for plans and activation contact us.

Can I view the camera without internet?

Within the local network, yes — if the camera is on your router, a phone on the same Wi-Fi can see the live view. Remote viewing needs an internet connection.

How many cameras do I need?

A typical flat is covered by one or two indoor cameras: hallway and living room. A house usually needs three or four — entrance, yard, rear side and garage.

Is night vision in colour?

Yes on models with a spotlight (C120, C125, C325WB, C460 among others). Simpler models use infrared and record in black and white at night.

How long does a battery camera last?

It depends on activity — several months at moderate motion levels. Paired with a solar panel it runs essentially continuously.

What about warranty and support?

All cameras are sold by the official TP-Link partner in Azerbaijan with an official warranty. We also provide support for installation and configuration.
