The TP-Link LS105G is a 5-port unmanaged Gigabit (10/100/1000 Mbps) switch. It is meant to split one network cable among several devices at home, in a small office, a shop or a study: a computer, a printer, a TV, a video recorder, a Wi-Fi access point.

Installation needs no configuration — connect the power and plug in the cables. Every port supports Auto MDI/MDIX, so a straight or crossover cable makes no difference, and speed is negotiated per port.

The model supports 802.1p/DSCP QoS: under load, voice and video traffic take priority, so a call or a camera feed is not broken up by a file download.

Steel housing, desktop or wall mounting. Green Ethernet cuts the power drawn by unused ports and short cable runs, and IEEE 802.3x flow control prevents packet loss under load.

Which SIM cards work?

It works with data SIM cards from the mobile operators in Azerbaijan. Once the card is in the slot the settings are usually picked up automatically; if not, you enter the operator APN by hand.

How different is it from cable internet?

On a mobile network the latency (ping) is higher and the speed varies with the time of day. It is fine for video, work email and calls; for online gaming and large file transfers a cable is always steadier.

Is there a battery version?

Yes, the pocket MiFi models run on a battery and travel in a bag. Mains-powered models need a socket but give stronger Wi-Fi and support more devices.
